Comida Chilena

The typical Chilean dishes that were most-often recommended to us include:

Completo. A hot dog in a bread bowl
buried under avocado and mayo
Empanada de pino. Beef, onion, black olives,
egg (I think) and a touch of aji pepper (I think)
Ostiones and Machas Parmesanas.
Oysters and Clams (that is native to Chile)
baked in Parmesan cheese and butter.

Paila Marina
Shellfish soup. Ah-mazing.
Chorrillana
French fries, covered with beef,
egg, fried onion, and sausages or hot dogs
My everyday eating was kind of boring, though. I did not cook much (with 10 people in the house, it was a lot easier to plan on not having access to the stove!), so had a lot of hard boiled eggs, canned tuna, cheese, fruits and vegetables, chocolate, and these amazing little lúcuma flavored pudding cups that come with at least an inch of whipped cream on the top. Once a week or so I would stop at a meat counter on the way home and pick up some beef or chicken, and I always made sure to have aji crema on hand.

I don´t see people drink much water. I rarely saw anyone at the school drink water, I never see my housemates drink water, and I definitely don´t see people carry water bottles. Water is sold (sin gas, con gas, flavored and not) but I don´t see a lot of water consumption.

Pear water.
Delightfully refreshing.
